The Accelerated Reader Program (AR) is a computerized reading program for K-12 students. Students may choose from over 1,400 books in the Information Center, their home library or any other library. They read the book and then take a computerized test. The computer checks the test and gives the students the score. Students may review their reading record at any time. The books range from second grade to adult reading level and interest. Many of the classics and other favorite books of students are AR books. All AR books in the Information Center are marked with a red dot. Lists of the books by author and title are also attached to this web page. The school library has lists of AR books by author, title, reading level, and points available at all times to students. The Base Library has a list of all AR books for which the school has tests.
The mission of the Information Center program is to ensure that students, staff, and other community members are effective users of ideas and information in an environment which integrates all elements of educational and information technology into the curriculum.
The Mannheim Middle School Information Center is committed to preparing our students to be life-long learners by providing them with the tools to access information in a thorough and efficient manner.
Our society has moved squarely into the information age. Our students need to have the skills to cope in such a society. The Information Center exposes our student to the latest technology in which to access the information and teaches the skills necessary to use this information.
